Ariana Grande e Lady Gaga lideram nomeações para os MTV Video Music Awards 2020

A MTV acaba de revelar os nomeados para os MTV Video Music Awards 2020, que incluem as maiores estrelas do panorama musical mundial. Em Portugal, a transmissão ficará a cargo da MTV Portugal, no dia 30 de agosto a partir das 01:00 (hora portuguesa).

Ariana Grande e Lady Gaga lideram as nomeações ao surgirem em nova categorias cada, incluindo as mais relevantes, como "Video of the Year", "Song of the Year" e "Best Collaboration". Outros artistas próximos do topo da tabela são Billie Eilish e The Weeknd, que contam com seis nomeações cada. Pela primeira vez, os nomeados para as principais categorias, foram revelados através de tweets de voz.

A categoria de "Best Video" reúne dois marcos históricos para duas das suas nomeadas: com apenas 18 anos, Billie Eilish é a primeira artista de sempre a conseguir duas nomeações nesta idade (em 2009, tinha sido nomeada pelo êxito "bad guy"); por sua vez, Taylor Swift pertence ao grupo super restrito de estrelas, composto por Katy Perry, Eminem, Britney Spears e Beyoncé, que foram nomeadas nesta categoria após terem vencido no ano anterior.

Entre as grandes novidades desta edição está o lançamento de duas novas categorias que são o reflexo dos tempos que correm. "Best Video From Home" e "Best Quarantine Performance" vão premiar os artistas que executaram produções, gravações e momentos especiais a partir dos seus lares durante o período de isolamento social. Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Drake, John Legend, Lady Gaga e Post Malone são algumas das estrelas nomeadas nestas categorias.

Sendo o primeiro evento no Barclays Center desde que a pandemia do COVID-19 chegou a Nova Iorque, os produtores do espetáculo e a equipa que gere o Barclays Center têm trabalhado em estreita colaboração com as autoridades estaduais e locais para implementar as melhores práticas para todos os envolvidos, incluindo procedimentos de distanciamento social, virtualização de elementos, sempre que possível e capacidade limitada.

Paralelamente, esta uma edição opta por um formato muito especial que abrange os cinco distritos da cidade – Brooklyn, The Bronx, Staten Island, Queens e Manhattan – contando com atuações a partir de vários locais conhecidos.

O público em todo o mundo já pode votar nos seus favoritos em 15 categorias. Para tal, basta aceder ao site e votar até 23 de agosto. A votação para "PUSH Best New Artist" vai-se prolongar durante o espetáculo, a 30 de agosto.

Os MTV VMAs 2020 serão transmitidos em direto na MTV Portugal a partir da 01h00 (hora portuguesa) de 30 de agosto.
